Joshi City Website Update for June 1st, 2020

It has been a good while since a general website update. What gives? With the pandemic going on, there really hasn’t been a lot of matches I can add to the Recommended Matches page, as the few events that did take place were shown on the promotion’s streaming service, which I typically don’t upload matches from. With the situation hopefully getting more under control in Japan, promotions have started having events again so hopefully I can add some Recommended Matches shortly. In the meantime, I do have some updates and announcements!

  • Daily Updates for June! I tried this back in January and did pretty well, I think I had 23 updates over the course of the month. We are going to try again in June, with an attempt to have daily updates now that Joshi promotions are getting up and running again. These updates will include general updates like this one, current event reviews, classic event reviews, and photobook reviews. While I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to update every day as things come up in real life, I’ll do the best I can.
  • Joshi City Shop Update! Two updates. First, with the tragic passing of Hana Kimura, I am getting a lot of questions related to if I am going to add her merchandise to the shop. Over the next week or so I hope to get in some items that I can still get for retail price, such as the Weekly Pro Wrestling Magazine, and sell them for my own cost as I have no interest in profiting off anyone’s death. Going forward from there, it will be very difficult to obtain any items related to Hana as their third party re-seller cost in Japan is through the roof. I’m talking $200+ for cards, $80+ for photographs, etc. So long term don’t expect a lot of Hana items in the shop, its just too expensive to obtain. Secondly and far less importantly, at the moment I have disabled Paypal from the shop to give it a break but payments are still accepted via credit or debit card. If you are a regular International buyer and can’t use anything but Paypal, send me a DM or email and we may be able to do Paypal payments on a case by case basis for a large enough order.
  • Marvelous Roster Update! To say that the Marvelous Roster page was out of date would be a gross understatement. That is no longer the case, as all profiles now have updated pictures and a lot more details than they had before. So if you are looking into getting invested in a new promotion, hopefully the updated roster will help.
  • Profile Updates! To go along with the above update, the following profiles have been added or modified:
