Joshi City Website Updates

From time to time I like to update everyone on what has changed around the website but didn’t require its own post (the “featured” picture isn’t related to this post, I just like it a lot).

• The Stardom Roster Page has been updated! This includes new profiles for HZK, Natsuko Tora, and Ruaka. I also updated pictures for a lot of the wrestlers, its not really a focus of mine to change a profile picture every time a wrestler changes their outfit, but some of the pictures such as Momo Watanabe and Kairi Hojo were really out of date. So now most of the pictures match their current look and not their look from 2014.
• The Monthly Rankings have been updated! Actually I updated them a few weeks ago. I am going to do a better job of keeping them updated at the start of every month, I have also added a section for tag teams and factions as well. The link can be found at the top of the page.
• New Recommended Matches have been added! Yesterday I added five matches to the Recommended Matches page, with of course DailyMotion videos for each match. I have them as private but feel free to share the links. Among the highlights include Arisa Nakajima vs. Kyoko Kimura from JWP on 11/3, a pair of WAVE matches, and Arisa Nakajima vs. Yoshiko in SEAdLINNNG on 10/16. The link can also be found at the top of the page.
• All Joshi Event Reviews are now on one page! I noticed some website viewers were just flipping though and reading a fair number of reviews in one sitting, so now that there are so many reviews on the website (over 75 just for 2016) I figured this would be an easier way to find a certain event or see which events I recommended. The link can be found at the top of the page where “Current Reviews” used to be.

Here is what is in the pipeline for the rest of the month:

• Wrestler Rankings for 2016! My 2015 Top Joshi Wrestler Ranking was and continues to be one of the more popular pages on the site, so I will do the same for 2016. I have to wait until all the big events conclude but I should be able to have it done right at the end of the year. All my yearly rankings are for the actual year, what happened in December 2015 won’t be taken into consideration for the 2016 ranking.
• Top Matches of 2016 and Top Rookies of 2016 columns! New this year, I am going to go through all my reviews and rank my Top 10 favorite Joshi matches. That will help give new fans a bit of a guide if they need to catch up. The Top Rookies Ranking will be the literal version of rookie, as in wrestlers that debuted in 2016, not the loose Stardom definition of Rookie. That will just make it more fair comparing wrestlers from all promotions.
• Filling in Wrestler Profile gaps. Oddly, I somehow don’t have profiles for some major players like Kagetsu and Hana Kimura. This will be corrected within the next week.
• Guide to Buying from Japan. I keep promising to give a list of websites that sell Joshi merchandise and DVDs in Japan and how to buy from them, that will be something I’ll be typing up sometime in the next few weeks. That way if anyone else is crazy like me and must see that JWP event that didn’t make TV, they can.

Course there will still be event reviews and a closer look at some photobooks, as I have about five more photobooks I need to highlight. So lots of stuff coming through the end of the year! Joshi City has grown a lot in the last year, which just encourages me to update it even more often so people have new content to look at.
